I first learned about being a steward of God’s Money when I went through the Crown Ministries Financial Program in 2008. The scriptures that I read really helped me think differently about how I treat money. Giving credit to this program for helping me initially years ago. I guess I did okay for a short time but have since fallen back into some old spending habits. I’ll post my favorite scripture passages in my next few blogs on this page as I continue to dig deeper into my Money behaviors.
I created a values statement on how I spend money.
I live a life of joy and humility showing a deeper level of compassion and self-sacrifice by learning to have discipline in my financial gifts I have been given.
The value statement was created from reading Chapter 10 in Gerstley’s Financial cleansing book.
One thing I realized from this activity was I wasn’t even close to spending money on what I really value. I’m hoping the values I have can shine a light on my spending issues and guide them better.
Dear Jesus,
I’m in a store waiting for my book quote from some unwanted books. Please keep me from spending money at this moment. There is nothing I need or want but strength and self-control right now but while I’m here, keep me joyful and sin free so as not to cause more pain. Help me continue to think about what it means to be a good steward of God’s money. Help me also to know what it really means to sacrifice spending money and whatever behaviors I must have desired by doing so for so long. Perhaps it was selfish of me, but it’s actually something I cannot explain even to you.
